The author hopes you will read about Salome before you begin. Princess Nefertari is a storyteller. Her faithful followers have gathered in the desert of western Arizona to hear her speak. As she begins she says that the story is about obsession. It's also about sin.

The antagonist, Gill John, is driving in the high desert of Wyoming as Chapter 1 begins. The emotion-letting of one of Gill's victims will leave an impact on you. Her name is Linda. Soon her oldest daughter, Tina, wishes she had left Gill alone. The youngest daughter, Barbara, gives a touching performance.

The story kicks into high gear when Gill is thrown off a freight train near Salome, Arizona. Lauren Jones catches Gill's attention. She's an attractive heroine, but she needs plenty of help from her husband, David, before the story ends.

Gill kidnaps the young couple at gunpoint. He soon learns that Lauren is a resourceful and remarkable opponent. In time he forces Lauren to drive to a deserted mine in the McCracken Mountains in spacious and parched Mohave County. The author challenges the reader to take Lauren's place in your mind - David's place too. What would you do?

There's plenty of action, emotion, screams, tension, metaphors, descriptions and an alternate ending coming the reader's way. Don't miss the Afterward. It's a true story.

Abigail Strathmore, 26, lives in southern California. She is a smart and attractive protagonist. Abby owns a photographic business and she works at a major newspaper. Her best friends are Sarah, a model, and Sally, a TV newswoman.

Early on, Abby finds a warm body. She calls her newspaper and asks for a page one exclusive for a murder story. During her investigation she finds two clues.

The next morning Abby learns the sheriff believes it was a suicide. He wants the paper to correct Abby's story. Abby enlists co-workers Jake and Ted to help.

One clue leads the heroine to a small town in the high desert of Wyoming. She meets a writer. They hit it off. Soon, Sarah travels to Wyoming to model clothes. The trio meets a gal named Shirley and together they make a big discovery.

By now the murderer is anxious. The perpetrator takes Abby, Sarah and the writer on a one-way trip. What happens next? You'll have to read the book to find out.

The author suggests you read it thoroughly or you might miss the catfight. It's a humdinger! He also wonders if the assault pages may frighten some of you at first. Humor is close at hand.

WARNING: Assault, explicit sex,  violence, adult situations and language.

"We had to walk on skis across a frozen lake with animal hides under the skis. We slid forward with the grain of the hair. In the reverse direction the hides provided resistance and kept us from sliding backwards... I landed on my ass."

When we wonder and muse like that, it's the philosopher in us. If we try to decide whether or not curiosity is genuinely ours or the workings of the brain, we run headlong into something like a dog chasing his tail to figure out."

"Persona is the term that defines how we look and how we seem to others ... It has a lot to do with the "myself" of us ... the frame of our appearance may be far from the truth. Since the truth of it isn't all that well understood ... it seems it's a wonder we get along so well ... hormones and sex have something to do with it."

In the Spring

When the days get warmer in the spring
A young man's fancy turns to thoughts of
Attractive women and adventure.
Starts with Anne.

When the days get warmer in the spring
An old man's fancy turns to thoughts of
Trimming the hedge and doing the wife
If he can.

Déjà Vu
In loving memory of mom and dad

I remember when all my
Years totaled eighteen.  Tan girls
Wearing bikinis on my
Mind.  Speedboats and water skis,
Fly fishing and honey bees.

Eight years later I fell in
Love with a CU coed.
Thermodynamics and dog
Races.  Brown eyes and hair: Our
First home was a lover's lair.

Got my sheepskin and married
Her.  Too soon it seemed to me
I heard sounds of a baby
Boy. Add in a baby girl
And family life was awhirl.

Now I like a rocking chair.
Barking dogs and grandchildren
Learning to talk and skip rope
Reminds me of my life too.
Sailboats, airplanes, déjà vu!
